Pressfit
Mastered technology
introduction
Used for example in telecommunications and the automotive industry for over 20 years, press-fit is a process that allows components to be assembled onto an electronic board without soldering, ensuring a perfect connection.
The process involves using a press to force pins, usually needle-shaped, into the tinned holes of a PCB (printed circuit board). It allows connectors, capacitors, another PCB or other components to be assembled on an electronic circuit board without using conventional selective soldering processes.
The advantages of pressfit
Process time is greatly reduced, as all pins are processed in a single cycle. Excellent reliability is ensured with a guaranteed connection, without defects due to soldering. Excellent continuity allows high-intensity connectors, such as Wurth terminals or equivalents, to be assembled using press-fit technology. No solder material is required, which reduces the environmental impact. The ease of repair and disassembly using press-out completes the advantages of this process.
